János Kabay, full name: János Ferenc Kabay (Bűdszentmihály, December 27, 1896 – Budapest, January 29, 1936) was the father of morphine production in Hungary, the founder of the Alkaloida Chemical Factory in Bűdszentmihály (now Tiszavasvár).
During the factory's heyday, in the 1970s, 2,500 workers were involved in production. The life work of János Kabay, the founder of the Alkaloida Chemical Factory, was awarded the honorary title of the 56th Hungaricum of the Hungarian nation on April 19, 2016, based on Act XXX of 2012 on Hungarian national values and Hungaricums.
